Cervinia is situated on the Italian slope of the Matterhorn and is lift-linked to Zermatt. It boasts 200km of runs. Downside Cervinia was founded in the 1930s by Mussolini. The peak season is long and the snow is high, mainly due to the high altitudes. These factors make it an ideal place for intermediates. The slopes are excellent for mileage skiing and cruising. In terms of beginners’ opportunities, there is plenty of coverage. Although the resort often encounters poor weather conditions, the Cervinia scenery is astonishing. The higher lifts are often closed because of high winds. The ski school is reported to be satisfactory, but the children’s care is rather limited.
