Predazzo introduction
Predazzo has 4150 inhabitants and is the largest village of the Val di Fiemme, it is located in the northeastern side of the valley where the Travignolo rapids and Avisio river meet. It is one of the most attractive places in the whole area of the valley, ideal for those people who would like to learn more about the geology and nature of the valley. Predazzo is defined as the geological garden of the Alps, while organized excursions tke people to the outdoor Geological Museum. Once Predazzo was a mining centre, today it is a popular tourist destination in the heart of the Dolomites. It is both a summer and a winter resort but is as well a significant economic exchange between the Fassa, Fiemme and Primiero Valleys. It is a reference point for hikers to set off in the Dolomites territory, from the Pale di San Martino to Latemar and Catinaccio. One cannot miss a visit to the Paneveggio Natural Park. Predazzo is rich in history, culture and traditions.
The resort is situated at an altitude of 1018 m. The highest lift is at 2327 m. There are 50 km of pistes, while the total number of runs is 21. The largest number is that for intermediate and beginner runs, while there are only 4 advanced pistes. Predazzo has an acces to 20 liftes and miles of cross country skiing, with 2 cable cars and 14 chairlifts. It is linked to the ski centers Alpe Lusia and Latemar and has many cross-country ski trails to offer, one of which is the legendary Marcialonga, a part of the Nordic Skiing World Championships in 1991 and 2003. The cross country ski passes are excellent for beginners, intermediate skiers and families. Ski jumping is possible as well. Accomodation is generally provided by family run hotels, with up-to-date facilities. Predazzo is a nice place for shopping, going to the restaurants, pizzerias and bars. There are organized trips and walkings through the valley. In the summer, the place offers numerous possibilities for excursions, mountain bike, trekking, or just enjoying the marvellous scenery and beautiful nature of the Dolomites. Predazzo offers a range of cultural events and entertainment and many sports activities.
