Vermiglio introduction

General Information
Vermiglio is in Trentino-Alto Adige Region of the Italian Alps and is the last town in Val di Sole. Trento is 81 km away from Vermiglio. The resort is at an elevation of 1,060 meters or about 3,500 feet and the top of the highest lift is at an elevation of 3,558 meters or about 11,700 feet. Some of the closest airports are Innsbruck, Bolzano, Verona, and Venice. Besides skiing in winter and hiking in summer, there are also a number of arts festivals, concerts, and other events that occur in Vermiglio.

Winter Activities
There are a variety of slopes to suit the level of skiing of a beginner to an experienced. There are also quite a good amount of slopes for snowboarders. There are a number of trails for cross-country skiing that explore up to Passo Tonale. Along with snowshoeing, there is dog-sledding and ice skating. There is also ice climbing. Orienteering which is a popular sport in Europe, involves using a map and compass to navigate along a course, is a favorite winter activity in Vermiglio. There are guides who will take anyone out into the back country or will suggest routes to take depending on the experience level. However, anyone going into the back country needs to inform the guides of their intentions in case of emergencies. There is an outdoor hot water pool which allows for swimming, also attached are itineraries for bowling and karaoke.

Summer Activities
Mountain biking, rock-climbing, and mountaineering are some of the activities during the summer. Vermiglio is a Heritage Resort situated on the northern sides of the Lake Rest, which is one among the 10 lakes of Manitowish chain. Summers also provide for water-skiing, hiking, biking on the trails, fishing or just hilling in or outside your apartments. For those who enjoy water sports, there is river-rafting, kayaking, and fishing along with swimming in the number of lakes in the valley. There is also horseback-riding and glacier walking. There is an archery range and there are helicopter tours. There is an adventure park with zip lines and rope bridges for those who wish to try their hand at swinging through the trees. Canyoning is another great activity catching up these days, which is a combination of mountaineering and white water sports.

Other Information
Vermiglio is famous for the unique ceramic stoves which are manufactured by the locals. Forte Strino is located between Tonale Pass and Vermiglio and was the most important fort built by the Hapsburg government and one of thirty built to guard the Italian border. In 1997 the fortress was converted into a museum called the Museo Storico della Guerra Bianca – or the Historical Museum of the War of the Alps - that features items and photographs from the World War I.
