Campitello di Fassa is a traditional and unspoilt village at the height of 1450 m in the Fassa Valley in Northern Italy, lying in the beautiful Dolomites. It is a typical village of Trentino, an important winter and summer resort, facing Sassolungo.The brook Ruf De Duron crosses Campitello di Fassa, coming from the neighbouring valley. The village is linked to Canazei (two kilometres away), but is much peaceful than its neighbour. Campitello di Fassa has attractive traditional South Tyrolean ambience and from here skiers can access the
Sella Ronda Ski Circuit with a length of 175 km of pistes. Campiltello’s lifts lead to the ski tracks of the Col Rodella lying in the foot of the imposing Dolomitic group Sasso Piatto, which offers various and interesting skiing possibiitie and has numerous skiing connections to the slopes of Pass Sella.
Val Duron, situated between Sassolungo and Catinaccio, is a starting point for walks towards a number of restaurants and lodges. The valley is famous with its botany, geography and geology. On the left bank of the river Duron is the Gothic Church of St. Filippo and Giacomo dating back to 1525 with a shaped belfry tower and 16 c. frescos on the southern side. Over the village there is the small center of Pian with brick masonry houses. From Col Rodella at the height of 2404 m opens the most charming and thrilling view of the mountainous scenery of the Dolomites. In winter, the place offers perfect conditions and facilities for skiing. The area relies on modern ski-lifts and an up-to-date snow covering system, which provides best skiing results from the very beginning of the season. The resort offers challenges mainly for beginners and intermediate skiers, and because of the lifts the whole skiing area is easily accessible. From here people might reach 70 km of cross-country trails.
Campitello is an elite resort thanks to the opening of many prestigous hotels. In fact, the village offers a number of four-star hotels, providing the utmost comfort in terms of hospitality. In the summer, the place is an ideal starting point for hiking. Campitello is as well a recognized alpinistic center. Few miles away from the Campitello cableway one can find the modern and well-equipped sports center: with a climbing practice structure, a hokey rink, a basketball and soccer playing field and a tennis playground. There is as well a golf-course structure where golf is taught by quaified instructors. There are possibilities for gliding and paragliding. Campitello di Fassa offers also a nice choice of restaurants and bars.
