Folgarida introduction

General Information
Folgarida is in Trentino-Alto Adige Region of the Italian Alps and is in Val di Sole. The resort is at an elevation of 1,300 meters or about 4,300 feet and the top of the highest lift is at an elevation of 2,180 meters or about 7,200 feet. Folgarida has 27 ski lifts including some gondola lifts. The closest airport is Verona. There are a number of events and festivals that occur during the year along with competitions both skiing and cycling. Also, there are a number of spas using age-old treatments for relaxing. And part of Val di Sole is included in Stelvio National Park where guided hikes are available. There are several hotels, bed and breakfasts, and farms for overnight stays.

Winter Activities
Even though the skiing in Folgarida is best for beginners, there are a variety of slopes extending from beginners to experienced and for both skiers to snowboarders and extend up to 120 km. There is also a snow park for the snowboarders. There are a number of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Because of the snow-making capabilities of Folgarida, there is snow for skiing all the year round. There is an ice stadium for the ice sports and there are facilities for night skiing as well. Folgarida is linked to the other resorts in Val di Sole which allows for a great number of slopes for cross-country skiing. Folgarida is also connected to Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio with highly sophisticated lifts, so skiers can easily switch around the places. Some thrilling activities such as heli-skiing where the skier is taken by helicopter to inaccessible areas are also available upon request.

Summer Activities
During the summer, there is mountain biking, rock-climbing, and cycling. For those who enjoy water sports, there is river-rafting, kayaking, and fishing along with swimming that can be done in the number of lakes and rivers that flow in the valley. There is also horseback-riding and glacier walking. Nordic walking and hiking, as well as orienteering are some other activities that can be done in summer. There is an archery stretch and also helicopter tours across the resort and nearby valleys. There is an adventure park with zip lines and rope bridges for those who wish to try their hand at swinging through the trees. And for those interested, there is also, with the help of a guide, canyoning which is a combination of mountaineering and white water sports.

Other Information
There are a number of castles in the area which have been converted to museums and have exhibits that display the rich history of the Italian Alps from Roman times to the Austro-Hungarian Empire to the two World Wars. Along with several churches and chapels to tour, there are many festivals during the year which celebrate certain events such as the birthday of Emperor Franz. There are concerts scheduled during the summer which showcase the history of music from classical to contemporary. All in all a great resort to be whether it be summer or winter!
