Selva Gardena is situated at the altitude of 1563 m in the imposing Dolomites, Val Gardena, Northern Italy. In winter, Selva Gardena is a true
skiing heaven. It has good access to the Sella Ronda cuircuit with 175 km of pistes. It is a large area with a very effcient lift system, great panoramic scenery and 120 km of snow-making coverage. The resort meets the need of the children as it is a nice deal, those under seven go free. There are free buses to the lifts but they get crowded at peak times. The place is nice for beginners, there is good boarding and a ski school. Intermediates wil discover a number of runs good for cruising. Advanced skiers should get to Arabba for decent challenges. Selva has access to the Marmolada glacier. Its ski area reaches Northern slopes at the foot of the majestic Sassolungo peak. There are gentle blue runs, pistes that reach the town, and a connection to Santa Cristina with steeper reds, short blues and blacks combined. The lowest pistes reach right into the town and are designed for beginners.
As a resort, Selva Gardena is very well structred. There is a wide choice of accomodation, mainly family hotels. The meals offered on and off the mountains are first-class. The resort is excellent for the whole family, with good apres-ski and a choice of amusement. Besides, it offers a variety of sports activities: a stadium of the ice, a field of skating, a sweater field (pitch & putt), a school of horseback riding, a minigolf field, a circle of tennis, skateboard, skating and the possibility to practise billiard and bowling.
