Arabba
Set at the end of Alto Agordino at the foot of the Sella mountain range, Arabba is one of the significant centers of the Ladin cultre and language in the Dolomites of Veneto, a way in which it is comparable to the border regions of South Tyrol. In the centre of Arabba there is a small beautiful church dedicated to the apostles St. Peter and Paul and was built in the second half of the 17 c. In a field at the end of the Burz mountain a cross has been erected and has survived many years, it is called the Old Church and it is believed that it was the place of an old settlement. This priveleged position on border gives access to the famous Sella Ronda Ski Cuircuit, the unforgettable ski trails that give an opportunity to ski in four mountain passes, Sella, Gardena, Campologno and the Pordoi. The area has stratigic importance for alpine skiing: 52 km of ski slopes connected to Marmolada by a cabin car that ascends at Porta Vescovo. The Avalanche Centre provides information on the mountain conditions and snow coverage in the Eastern Alps. Both in winter and summer Arabba offers a variety of attraction, cultural events, festivals and places of interest to visit, such as the ruins of the Andraz Castle, a fortification erected on a rock that has a marvellous view of the fields Livinallongo.

The resort is situted at the altitude of 1600 m and the highest lift is at 2950 m. The ski area of Arabba is in the heart of the Dolomiti Super ski region, boasting with 1040 km of pistes and 465 lifts. From the Sella Group the four valleys of Val di Fassa, Val Gardena, Val di Livinallongo and Val di Alta Badia wind their way in the vast range of the Dolomiti Alps and provide splendid scenery and mountain views. The Sell Ronda Curcuit is the largest ski area in the Dolomits with 175 km of pistes and connections to the four valleys and the resorts Campitello, Canazei, Ortisei, Selva Gardena, La Villa and Arabba. They all have efficient modern ski lift systems, exceptionally well-maintained pistes and extensive artificial snow-making equipment. Arabba is one of the most recognized resorts in the cuircuit. It is a small traditional village occupying one of the most favourable positions for skiers of all levels with ski runs leading back to the village, and a choice of nursery slopes for beginners. The whole area provides great opportunities for intermedite skiers, but Arabba is most famous with its challenges for advanced skiers and snowboarders. There are exceptional steep runs, combined with a good snow record and direct access to the Marmolada glacier. Here is the best heliskiing in the Alps. There is a ski kindergarden, which gives a free ski pass for children under eight. Children may take individual and group lessons and there is a reduction in ski rental.

The apres ski activities in Arabba are very quiet: there are small hotels and bars that provide amusement in the free time, with a few lively bars with a party atmosphere for people who want to have fun. There are a number of good restaurants, offering both traditional and modern Italian cuisine. Besides skiing Arabba offers a great number of opportunities for amusement: the Ice Stadium where you can practise ice skating to music, renting snow mobile at the Plan boe hut, a starting point for the snow mobile run. If you would like to spend your day in a peculiar way, you may start a beautiful excursion on snow shoes and ski poles on the Altopiano del Cherz, which is an amazing area surrounded by the most splendid peaks of the Dolomites. In the evening you may enjoy your dinner at mountain huts, while some hotels in the village have a piano bar.
