Cortina d'Ampezzo is located in the Ampezzo valley, protected by the Pomagagnon, which also provides the town with its well known scenery. Here you can spot Sorapiss, Antelao, Croda da Lago, Tofane - one of the more impressive groups of the Eastern Dolomites. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the place has been a hub for artists, intellectuals, princes and many internationals. In winter, the resort offers some 110 km of downhill tracks, along with 58 km of cross country routes, served by 37 lifts. Off snow, the visitors can practice sledge, ice-skating, sleddog, taxi-bob or ice climbing. During the summer, the mountains allow nature walks, and the sports possibilities vary from tennis, swimming, golfing, horse riding and mountain biking to extremes, such as canyoning.
