Selva di Cadore, situated at an altitude of 1400m in a frame of verdant slopes, began as a mining village to develop into a large touristy spot in the beginning of the 1970s. It is set amidst the massive Pelmo and Civetta. The place is well fed with skiing facilities and various types of accommodation. The area is part of the renowned Civetta Skiing District, and offers satisfying cross country opportunities. It has a total of 80km of ski slopes and boasts good snow reports. During the summer, the Selva di Cadore outskirts provide the visitors with great mountain bike routes. Selva di Cadore is the place where the “man of Mondeval”, the mesolitic hunter’s skeleton, was found.
